Can A Blog Sell A Service

Many blog marketeers have an inherent interest in positioning blogs as the second coming, as the only marketing required in your mix, as all you need to succeed in selling your products, services, or indeed anything that you want to sell.

I read a lot of books and listen to a lot of audios on the subjects of personal development, sales, business, marketing and motivation.

Nowadays I read a lot of blogs and am subscribed to several via RSS feeds. One blog which I read regularly is Trish Jones’ blog. She recently posted two interesting posts on blogging as a sales tool and whether blogging can sell services or just products.

Rss Feeds Explained

RSS, or rich site syndication, is sweeping the internet as the new content provider. For blog owners, this very useful function means two things, getting your content out there for the world to see and providing content for your blog when you don’t have time to write. Most bloggers prefer to write their own content and they use their RSS feed to promote their blog, rather than filling it with content from other sites.

Building A Good Reputation Through Blogging Part Ii

Your comments must also contain useful information to be effective. Motherhood statements like ‘I love your blog‘… ‘Your write up is so great’… will do no good and your intentions will be under suspicion. Some may think that you’re just trying to get reciprocal links and they will eventually ignore you and your blog. Just take note that you need to provide quality comments or else you might be regarded as spam. Of course, that is bad for your business.

Writing Blog Entries

Blogs are unique in that they can be used as promotional machines and informational sources. You should submit a blog entry at least once every three days to keep the information fresh so that your users will keep coming back and so that the search engines will frequently update your content.

Blog entries only need to be one to two paragraphs in length. Posting press releases and articles on your blog will also increase the amount of content on it. However, make sure your blog maintains a balance of 70% information to 30% company and sales content. This increases the user value of your blog.

Creating The Unique Blog - Consider Photobucket

The blogging phenomenon continues to grow after it was initially introduced more than ten years ago. This online craze now includes the popular photography site Photobucket with their ever growing Photobucket Blog. The concept is a simple one - you can create a blog that is embedded with your favorite pictures. In addition, this site may contain pictures from your family vacation, a social gathering, formal functions, and can even include your marketing ventures.
