Metal Gear - The Start Of Something Special
To commemorate the 20 year anniversary of Metal Gear Solid, here is the Metal Gear franchise. The very first Metal Gear was a stealth game from creator Hideo Kojima. It was made in 1987 and developed by Konami. Metal Gear was touted by critics everywhere, and it was fairly obvious that this was the start of something special. The game takes place during 1995 and in South Africa; furthermore, a place known as Outer Heaven was receiving superfluous attention.
There was some speculation that there was a threat to national security in Outer Heaven, so the government sent a unit called Foxhound to eliminate this threat. You are in control of protagonist Solid Snake (a novice to combat, but a member of Foxhound nonetheless). When communication with Foxhound recruit Gray Fox has gone astray, the leader of Foxhound (Big Boss) sends Snake to the rescue. Snake saves Gray Fox from peril, but Gray Fox mentions to Snake that Metal Gear is a nuclear weapon that can be used to rule the world. In order to stymie Metal Gear, Snake locates an engineer of the mobile destructive tank to help Snake eradicate Metal Gear. Soon afterwards, Snakes ascertains that Big Boss himself is the man pulling the strings in this entire operation.
With the assistance of Metal Gear’s engineer, Snake does manage to thwart Metal Gear before construction is completed. As Snake departs from Outer Heaven, he encounters none other than Big Boss himself. Big Boss’ plan was to make Outer Heaven the most potent place in the world. By sending in the inexperienced Solid Snake, Big Boss believed that he could manipulate the young trainee for his own perverse agenda. Realizing that without Metal Gear there is no hope, Big Boss initiates a self-destruct system to bring Snake down with him. Snake and Big Boss fight to the death, and Snake is ultimately victorious as he escapes from Outer Heaven.
